Tetracaine hydrochloride is a long-acting ester local anesthetic
Functional characteristics are: strong penetration of mucous membranes, suitable for topical anesthesia, and often used in ophthalmology. After injection, the anesthetic effect appears slowly (about 10 minutes), and the metabolism after absorption is also slow. The local anesthesia time is as long as about 3IJ, H,-J. Tetracaine hydrochloride has no vasoconstriction, mydriasis, corneal damage and other adverse reactions after eye drops, and its local anesthetic effect is about 10 times greater than that of procaine. It is mainly used for topical anesthesia of the eyes, nose, and throat mucous membranes, and is rarely used for conductive anesthesia and epidural anesthesia. It is generally not used for infiltration anesthesia.
