Mid-Autumn Festival Came A Little Early

"Summer retreat is nine, and autumn is clear." September 10th is the Mid-Autumn Festival. Most of the Mid-Autumn Festival in my impression is very close to the National Day, but this year's Mid-Autumn Festival is obviously a little early, and there are still 20 days before the National Day. Astronomy science experts said that this year's Mid-Autumn Festival is the earliest in the 18 years from 2015 to 2032, and it belongs to the "early Mid-Autumn Festival".

The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival and the Reunion Festival, evolved from the Qiu Xi festival in ancient times. As one of the traditional festivals in my country, the Mid-Autumn Festival did not officially appear as a festival until the early years of the Tang Dynasty. It gradually became popular in the Song Dynasty, and became the main festival in my country in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The Mid-Autumn Festival entrusts people with their longing for good weather, good crops, reunion and happiness, and good flowers and full moon.

Zhao Zhiheng, a member of the Chinese Astronomical Society and director of the Tianjin Astronomical Society, introduced that the Mid-Autumn Festival is a lunar calendar festival, and the Gregorian calendar dates corresponding to the lunar calendar festivals are not fixed. The statistical results of the 200 years from 1901 to 2100 show that the Gregorian calendar date corresponding to the Mid-Autumn Festival can fall on September 7th at the earliest and October 8th at the latest. Therefore, any day from September 7th to October 8th in the Gregorian calendar is normal for the Mid-Autumn Festival.

As far as the 100 years of the 21st century are concerned, the latest Mid-Autumn Festival occurs on October 6, 2006, 2025, 2063 and 2082; the earliest Mid-Autumn Festival occurs on September 7 in the Gregorian calendar. Day, only once, in 2052. The Mid-Autumn Festival occurs on September 8, 2014, 2033, 2071 and 2090; the Mid-Autumn Festival occurs on September 9, 2060 and 2098. From this point of view, although this year's Mid-Autumn Festival is not the earliest, it does come a little early.

It is worth mentioning that this year's Mid-Autumn Festival is the earliest date corresponding to the Gregorian calendar in the 18 years from 2015 to 2032. The reason for this limitation is that the Gregorian calendar dates corresponding to the Mid-Autumn Festival in 2014 and 2033 are both September 8.

Although the Mid-Autumn Festival has changes in the Gregorian calendar, it does not affect people's ability to feel the charm of traditional festivals. In 2006, the Mid-Autumn Festival was included in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage lists in my country. For more than ten years, the traditional culture contained in the Mid-Autumn Festival has been unearthed and passed down one after another.
