What Is Ectodine?
In 1985, Professor Galinski discovered in Egypt that a desert-growing halophilic bacterium (Ectothiorhodospira Halochloris) synthesises a special active substance that enables them to maintain cellular stability under high UV radiation, dryness, extreme heat and high salinity - this substance was named Ectoin (also known as tetrahydromethylpyrimidine carboxylic acid). -This substance was named Ectoin, also known as tetrahydromethylpyrimidine carboxylic acid.
Safety
In various in vitro or in vivo experiments on Ectoin from 1993 to 2020, there have been no cases of allergic or other adverse reactions. Ectoin is also approved for the treatment of conditions such as atopic dermatitis in infants and young children, so it is clear that the safety of Ectoin is reassuring enough.
Moisturising Properties
Ectoin's unique molecular structure gives it a strong ability to complex water molecules. Experiments have proved that under the action of 1% concentration of Ectoin, the water content of the skin can be increased by 40%. Anti-Aging
A series of studies from 1997 to 2007 found that a type of cell in the skin called a Langerhans cell was associated with skin ageing - the more Langerhans cells there were, the younger the skin condition.
When the skin is exposed to sunlight, the number of Langerhans cells decreases significantly; however, by applying Ectoin in advance, the chain reaction caused by UV exposure can be prevented. In addition, Ectoin inhibits the production of pro-inflammatory molecules caused by UV light and prevents the DNA mutations it induces, which are one of the causes of wrinkles.
Stability
Ectoin grows in extreme environments, so it is very stable in nature - strong light, high temperature, strong acid and strong alkali will not affect it; at the same time, as a compatible solute, it is soluble in common solvents such as water, glycerin and propylene glycol.
