Effects of lidocaine on postoperative cognitive function

Lidocaine significantly reduces the occurrence of cognitive dysfunction (POCD) in patients with heart valve surgery, and also has a certain protective effect on the early postoperative comprehensive cognition of elderly patients with heart bypass surgery. In addition, intraoperative infusion of lidocaine can significantly reduce the incidence of POCD in surgical patients who are continuously given cardiopulmonary bypass, but when the total amount is too large, it will adversely affect postoperative cognitive function.

It turns out that in addition to the anesthetic effect, lidocaine has so many useful non-anesthetic effects, all of which have broad application value and application prospects, and are worthy of further in-depth study.
