Phenibut is a GABAB receptor agonist, and at low concentrations, phenibut mildly increases the concentration of dopamine in the brain, thus providing a stimulating effect along with anti-anxiety.
Phenibut Hydrochloride is the hydrochloride form of Phenibut and they have the same active ingredient and similar pharmacological effects. Both are GABA-B agonists that act primarily on GABAB receptors and have anxiolytic and cognitive enhancing effects. In addition, Phenibut Hydrochloride also stimulates dopamine receptors and antagonises beta-phenylethylamine (PEA), a possible endogenous anxiety factor.
