Inactivated enzymes cannot decompose fat in food into free fatty acids and glycerol that can be absorbed by the body, thereby reducing fat intake and exerting weight loss effects. In addition, studies have found that orlistat inhibits intestinal absorption of cholesterol can also be achieved by inhibiting Niemann-pick C1-like protein 1 (niemann-pick C1-like1, NPC1L1).
2. Orlistat is a general lipase inhibitor that acts on the PL of human duodenal fluid with an IC50 of 122 ng/ml.
